Geographical Location

Würzburg is a city in Bavaria, Germany on the river Main at the border of the vineyards in the south of Germany. Würzburg is located east of the city of Frankfurt am Main (118 km / 73 miles) and has a population of 131, 550.

History

Noell was founded in 1824 by Matthias Noell in Würzburg as a forge and foundry works, specialising in the manufacture of mail coaches, freight wagons and transport cranes. The first Noell Straddle Carrier for handling containers was built and delivered in 1968 under the brand name “Peiner” to a German Container Terminal in Hamburg. Those were the very early times of the containerization process in the ports. Since then, Noell’s success story boosted especially in the last years and, with almost 2200 Straddle and Sprinter Carriers delivered in the five continents, it is now world market co-leader. Noell has also been a manufacturer of Ship-to-Shore and Yard Stacking Cranes and while production was moved to Noell China long ago, a small team based in Würzburg is in charge of after sales services. In 2009 the company became a part of Terex Cranes.

Straddle Carriers

Terex can offer the widest range of Straddle Carrier models, ensuring that we always provide the most suitable machine for any type and size of container terminal. The Straddle Carrier has a maximum lifting capacity of 60 t, twin lift capabilities and a wide choice of customized options.

Sprinter Carriers

Based on the technological expertise in advanced drive and control systems, Terex offers Sprinter Carriers of different types to suit each purpose of horizontal container transport. Furnished with similar capabilities as the Straddle Carrier, the Sprinter Carrier presents and unmatchable high effective solution for container transfer.

Utility Carriers

Custom-made carriers, developed and built on Terex´s know-how, to serve special applications such as e.g. x-ray scanning of containers, radioactive screening, or other (industrial) use.
